Still looking…

So, it turned out that the lovely Julia decided to foster me for a while and get me back to good health.  Here’s the next post about me on A Dog’s Life Facebook pShilohSept2012_thumb1age:  “Dogs Needing Homes, September 2012”

My name is Norman and I am a 7-8 year old Yellow Lab male. When I came into the pound I was VERY overweight and sad. I couldn't understand why I had been surrendered there. Thankfully A Dogs Life got me out and into foster where I am doing great. Thanks to my great foster mum I have lost LOADS of weight and I feel like a new dog. I can even run and jump and play now I still have some weight to lose so whoever adopts me would need to keep up with my regular exercise plan and diet dog food. I love my walks and I like to play with a ball so exercising me is easy.

I am a very affectionate boy and I love to be brushed. I am great with other dogs, all people and even cats. My ideal home would be where I would get lots of regular exercise and appropriate diet, where I would have a couch to spend my evenings on (I can share but only with dogs with small bums who fit beside me ;)), where I would have pals to hang out with and a large garden to potter around. I am neutered, fully vaccinated and microchipped. Because I am over 7 years of age A Dogs Life are not looking for a rehoming fee for me, just the perfect forever home. If you think you can offer me the loving home I deserve please go to www.adogslife.ie check out rehoming conditions, download adoption form, will it out and email it back to enquiries@adogslife.ie

Looking for a home

This is me when I was rescued from Dunboyne Pound by the wonderful people at A Dog’s Life.  Here’s some of my story, as written by the lovely lady who took this picture. The text comes from the A Dog’s Life Facebook Photo Album “Dogs in Dunboyne Pound” from April 2012

Meet Norman (real name Shiloh) surrendered to pound yesterday apparently aged 13. He is very overweight.....huge, with VERY overgrown nails....but worst of all....he is totally broken hearted. You can see it in his little face. He kept waiting for someone familiar to come get him - but he got me instead!

Couldn't leave him behind today but biggest problem was getting him into the jeep because of his sheer weight.....but between two of us we managed it. Poor big guy didn't know where he was. Myself and the vet lifted him out and he potters around quite well for a dog of his size - the pressure on his poor joints must be awful.

He has been fully medically checked out and apart from being obese he is in good health otherwise. Vet staff have clipped his VERY long nails and vax'd and wormed him. What we need now is for someone to open their heart and their home to him. He will need a strict diet and lots of love to heal his broken heart. Despite his devastation he is the sweetest, gentlest guy. His teeth are good and he is sprightly enough so not sure if we believe he is 13. Can anyone foster him???
